If you have been hesitating to replace missing teeth with dental implants, now is your chance to make a change. While many patients avoid dental procedures, we can assure you that dental implants are nothing to fear. In fact, most dental implant procedures are considered minor surgery in that they can be completed in the office within a handful of appointments. In this post, we’re discussing some ways a minor dental implant surgery can be a major life upgrade.

Don’t wait to improve your smile and your life. Call Dr. Brown at (630) 369-3120 to schedule your dental implant consultation. Our friendly team has the expertise to get your smile back on track while prioritizing your comfort and convenience. Now, let’s discuss how dental implants can be a small step towards significant life improvement.

Minor Surgery

Three Phase Process

Dental implants are usually created over the course of three appointments. The root implant is placed in the jaw bone during the first appointment. Once the jaw bone has grown around the artificial root, usually after a few months, we insert a piece known as an abutment, which will connect the implant to a new artificial tooth. Then, once the gums have healed, we complete the implant with a custom replacement tooth in the final appointment.

While the dental implant process takes several months, many patients find comfort in the relatively small number of appointments needed to complete the procedure.

Local Anesthesia

Your dentist will use local anesthesia before each phase of your dental implant procedure to ensure that you do not feel any pain while they work.

After the procedure, you will likely experience tenderness and swelling while your gums heal around the implant. However, most people feel significantly less pain 24 hours after their procedure.

Sedation Options

At Dr. Brown’s practice, we offer a variety of sedation options that can help make your dental implant procedure feel surprisingly relaxing. Depending on your particular needs, we can choose between nitrous oxide, oral sedation, and intravenous sedation.

Major Life Upgrade

Natural Look and Feel

Unlike dentures and bridges, which can sometimes look and feel unnatural, dental implants give you the best of both worlds. Not only do they look natural, but they also feel like ordinary teeth.

Simple Upkeep

Dental implants can be maintained like all your natural teeth. As long as you are following your dentist’s instructions–brushing and flossing daily, attending twice-annual dental cleanings, and following our advice for good dental hygiene–your dental implants will continue to look like new.

Long-Lasting Materials

The materials used for dental implants are durable. Common materials for dental implants include titanium or zirconium oxide. As long as you maintain your dental implants and overall oral health, your new teeth can last a lifetime.
