Modern dental technology is transforming dental care, to the benefit of patients and dental care professionals. Learn more about the exciting new dental technology available to you at Thomas F. Brown, DDS, in this short, info-packed post!

If you’ve had dental x-rays taken, you may recall holding big, sharp sensors between your teeth for quite some time, while sitting totally still. It’s uncomfortable! We know.

Dr. Brown has invested in digital dental x-rays for many reasons, but we are so pleased to offer you improved comfort in the radiography process. Our digital x-ray relies on smaller, easy-to-bite sensors that aren’t as sharp and awkward as traditional x-ray sensors. They even come in pediatric sizes for kiddos.

We also have an awesome tool that gives us 3D images of a patient’s jaws, sinuses, nerve canals, and other structures right on a chairside monitor. It’s called cone beam technology, and it significantly enhances Dr. Brown’s visibility of the entire jaw and related structures. Give us a call at 630-369-3120 to experience low-radiation and/or cone beam 3D imaging firsthand.

Digital Dental X-rays

Our dentists in Naperville, Il, provide you and your loved ones access to digital dental x-rays that will subject you to just 10% of the radiation traditional x-rays require. Though the amount of radiation traditional x-rays need is small, why subject yourself to any radiation unnecessarily? We love our patients and will always strive to provide the best experience for you, while improving your oral health, appearance, and potentially your quality of life.

Why do we use digital x-rays? Because our patients enjoy these benefits:

  • Lower Radiation Exposure
  • Images Instantly Available On-screen
  • Enhanced Quality of Images
  • Better Diagnostic Accuracy
  • Convenient Digital Storage/Easy Accessibility
  • Environmentally Friendly

Cone Beam Imaging

Our cone beam, or CBCT (cone beam computed tomography), captures over 150 separate images from various angles to create a three-dimensional map of a patient’s jaws, including the teeth set in the jaws. It does all of this in under a minute.

Cone beam images are particularly useful for diagnosing issues like TMJ (temporomandibular joint) dysfunction, inspecting the sinus cavity and nerve canals, and determining best locations for dental implants. CBCT also helps us diagnose issues with orthodontics and airway issues.

With our CBCT, you and your loved ones will have access to:

  • More Accurate Treatment Planning
  • Improved Accuracy in Implant Placement
  • Finding Hidden Pathologies
  • Fast and Non-Invasive
  • Improved Patient Education & Understanding
  • Creation of Surgical Guides and CAD/CAM
  • DIgital Storage and Quick Access

Patient Comfort & Efficient Dental Appointments

Your time is an irreplaceable and limited gift, so Dr. Brown has taken steps to make dental visits as efficient and comfortable as possible for you. Besides low-radiation digital X-rays and CBCT, we offer CEREC for one-visit crowns. CEREC uses computer-aided design and manufacturing, or CAD/CAM. The in-office milling unit fabricates custom porcelain dental crowns in one hour. This means you won’t have to wear a temporary crown at all!
